Spring Has Sprung!
Updated: May 3, 2019
Spring is here and all is anew. With the rain comes greener grass and beautiful blooms. This is a great time for you to feel anew as well. Time to perhaps unload some of the unnecessary stuff you have stowed away in those closets and attics.
Having made many moves in my lifetime, I’m always amazed at how easily and quickly my stuff multiplies. Even though I’m sure that I’m keeping my household lean and organized, it seems that those candles I hid in that drawer, those old towels I didn’t want to throw out, or papers I was certain I would file, all added up to boxes and boxes of extraneous stuff weighing me down. A few years ago, I even went so far as to purchase Marie Kondo’s “the life-changing magic of tidying up”. Well on paper, it’s a great idea, but in reality, it can feel overwhelming. I found the best way to getting my home lean, mean, and organized, is to approach it the same way you would eating an elephant…one bite at a time.
Choose one set of drawers, one closet, or one under-sink storage to start. Instead of trying to tackle everything in a day or two, take 60, or even 30 minutes each day, and I promise you that each step will become easier and more satisfying. After all, it is just stuff, and like dropping any weight, can feel very cathartic.
